This unique space is a timber framed, sod roof, strawbale house nestled along the edge of Upper Cow Creek in the Umpqua National Forest. Inspired by our great, great grandparents’ home on the range, Dad designed and built this from Douglas Fir logs harvested here on site and finished with clay from the back pond. There is filtered water in a Berkey filter, propane gas stove top, oven, a small solar powered fridge, and wood stove. The kitchen has cold running water. You can boil water on the propane stove or wood stove. There is a bucket compostable toilet in a covered outhouse and a covered, outdoor hot water shower. Check in with Andrew, the host, for access to ethernet on the main house deck.
