Explore the early settlers of the Lower East Side arts community through a tour of the former PS160, a 1890 Dutch Neo-Gothic landmark that was converted into private artist studios and performance spaces in the mid-1980s. After visiting the studios of select founders and our current international artists-in-residence, we'll walk over to the only remaining building in the historic Essex Street Market development (built by Mayor Laguardia in 1940) to explore Cuchifritos Gallery + Project Space, a dedicated exhibition space for emergent voices within contemporary art. After exploring the artwork and gallery, we'll gather for a private tasting with local vendors within Essex Street Market.
I'm the Director of Artists Alliance Inc, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the careers of emerging and underrepresented artists and curators through residencies, exhibitions, and commissioned projects. Before joining the Artists Alliance family, I worked as a curator at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco.
