The key to successful cooking is successful preparation. In one of our most essential core classes, you’ll master the art of mise en place—the art of being prepared—by getting comfortable with a chef's knife. We'll begin with a lecture on knife maintenance, safety, and anatomy, before launching into hands-on slicing and dicing. You’ll work your way through a variety of vegetables and cutting techniques, all while getting professional tips on how to stay organized and efficient in the kitchen.

I have been cooking professionally and teaching cooking classes in New York for three years, drawing on my academic background in nutrition and culinary arts. As a lead instructor at the Brooklyn Kitchen, I further the school's mission by teaching home chefs how to cook with their senses, and I'm inspired by finding joy in quality and simple ingredients.
The class will take place at the Brooklyn Kitchen, a stunning, sky-lit loft kitchen space in Williamsburg.
