Having a signboard that says "Gakkari (disappointing) Udon" in front of the shop, my family runs a authentic Udon restaurant of the area. Why does it say disappointing? Because at the first glance, the Udon looks as simple as it could be. There are no toppings which makes Udon more delicious. However, the toppings were hidden under noodle, so do not worry, it is tasty after all. Also, this disappointing Udon is exclusively provided by our restaurant. Let's get into the kitchen where people are usually unable to get in, and make Udon together. Before this hands on Udon cooking experience, we'll stop by Sato Dojo, where Samurai used to train themselves in the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate. As a Kendo(Japanese swordmanship) learner, I can show you the highlight of the neighborhood.
My family runs local Udon restaurant in Hino area, where I was born and grown up. Also I'm doing a tour guide as my career (I take Japanese people overseas to explore many countries around the world). Through this experience I would like you to discover and explore nostalgic neighborhood which you can't find in central area of Tokyo.
Gathering at Hino Station (Chuo Line), I will take you to post-station town called Koshu Kaido. This is a nostalgic neighborhood with lots of shrines and Dojo(the hall where the sword player was trained). After that we'll head to my noodle restaurant.
