Did you know that spending time around animals reduces stress and increases feelings of happiness? You can double that when they are rescued goats!
Come spend outdoor time in a small group with ample room for social distancing to meet some of the most affectionate goats there are. Visitors will get to meet and learn about each goat and breed as well as their rescue stories, behaviors and unique characteristics of the species. We are loaded with goat fun facts and corny goat puns to add a little laughter into our day!
You'll also become part of the herd when we proceed to hike through marked trails on our 9 acre property with the goats, who enjoy navigating the trails and foraging along the way. Watching the goats in a natural habitat and bonding with them is truly magical.
We end with extra quality time with all of the goats, who love lots of attention, allowing for plenty of hugs, scratches, and photo ops. Everyone leaves with a small goat fun fact booklet and sticker of their favorite goat.
This experience is fun for all ages - we have an equal amount of adults and children. If a date or time isn't available on our calendar, please ask! We have an open schedule and would love to accommodate you if we can!

This experience is rain or shine. Bringing water bottles is recommended.

We have cared for rescue goats for over 7 years. After our first goat wandered onto our property after being "set free" by a local camp, we constructed our current animal enclosure and have grown our "family" to seven very friendly (and spoiled) rescue goats. Each one comes with a different rescue story, from being seized from a "backyard butcher" to a defunct petting zoo operation, we will share each narrative with you during your visit. I am a supporter of, and have collaborated with, Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, Catskill Animal Sanctuary and Farm Sanctuary in both receiving our rescued animals (we also have 19 rescued chickens!) and caring for them. We are excited to share their stories with you!

"Frederick Farm" is a 9 acre property and residence, also host to two separate Airbnb rentals. We have a large vegetable garden for the animals adjacent to the animal enclosure, which is several fenced in acres of pasture and forest, with a natural stream throughout. Our marked trails meander through the property for our hike. Our site is located in the Catskill Park and is walking distance to the Rondout Reservoir with spectacular water views
I really wanted to go somewhere warm this spring break, but with two unvaccinated children we don’t feel safe yet. My 4.5 year old got the idea to “play with goats” so my husband ran with the idea and booked us a few nights upstate in Warwick NY. He booked a goat sanctuary trip and I’ve never seen my kids that excited. I have to admit I wasn’t pumped until we started driving upstate.
We stayed about an hour from the goats. Perfect amount of car time to see country things like cows, horses, farms etc.
When we arrived at the farm I could tell right away this would be super fun. Meagan is super knowledgeable and very sweet. You know right away that she’s a good person who loves life. She was so kind to my 2.5 and 4.5 year old daughters and let them hold a hen, brush the goats, and feed them on our hike. There were 10 people on the hike and it was completely outdoors so we felt comfortable/safe the entire time.
10/10 will recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun activity to do outside of the city that will get your family up and spending time outdoors. We will be back!

Such a memorable time with Meagan and all of her great goats! My partner and I haven’t spent much time around goats or farm animals and we loved getting to experience their distinct personalities and learn about different breeds. It was so heartwarming to hear Meagan compassionately share each goat’s rescue story with us. It was fun hiking with the goats because their behavior was so lively and surprising. The toughest part is picking a sticker of your favorite goat at the end!
Highly recommend for a lighthearted and fun time. For me, it was also an enriching and valuable life experience that broadened my understanding of the livestock and dairy industry.

Hanging out with Meagan and the goats was so much fun! It was very cool to see the goats interact and to get a sense of their unique personalities. Meagan is a wellspring of information on the goats and is a great hiking guide! Definitely expect to get dirty - the best part of the experience for me was getting to sit in the dirt and hug Zoe :)

I brought my three children (14, 12, and 6) and we all enjoyed hanging out and hiking with the rescued goats so much. It was wonderful and we hope to go back and hike with Hamilton and Eliza as soon as they are old enough. Meagan I as an amazing and thoughtful host.
