In Korea, we eat these foods of Thanksgiving Day, New Year's Day and ancestors' memorial service. We ‘ll go to my home to make the traditional food together. We’ll make three different dishes, vegetable brochette jeon, frozen pollack jeon, and donggrang ttaeng jeon. Jeon is a dish made by seasoning whole, sliced, or minced fish, meat, or vegetables, coating them with wheat flour and egg wash then frying in oil. Finally, we’ll enjoy the lunch that we’ve made + many side dishes along with traditional wine, Korean fruits, and tea.
I’ve lived in Seoul for over four decades. I love to practice speaking English, to travel, and to cook. My father is the oldest son in my family. In Korea, because he is the oldest son, it is his task to lead the memorial rites for my ancestors, and since then I’ve been helping him lead and make ceremonial food for over three decades now. I would love to give you an insight of this part of Korean culture and Confucianism.
