The first round will introduce you to the famous Reina Sofia Museum, house of the greatest Picasso's painting and famous 20th century icon, the Guernika, alongside with a good selection of Dalí and Joan Miró works. I will also give you the keys to appreciate the art of Francis Bacon, Rene Magritte, Yves Klein, Mark Rothko, Miquel Barceló and generally all of those artists that you might like/dislike and arise both emotion and suspicion. I bet you didn't know that Dalí used to wear an omelette in the pocket of his jacket because...well, because it just looks cool and surreal. The second round will be an intermezzo to sit down in a typical tapas place, relax and try one glass of spanish most celebrated wine, Rioja, or the second best contender , Ribera del Duero, while celebrating life and sharing some stories art or not art related. If that's not your thing we can of course have a tea instead. After a short stroll we will arrive at our third destination, an old building with more than 9.000 sqm filled with the most irrelevant art. A completely underground fortress that has become a stronghold for outcast artists, musicians and all kind of interesting people.
Hi I'm Alessandro, your spanish-italian host ! I'm here to share with you my passion for Art, specially Contemporary Art, both established and underground. After graduating in Art History I worked for years in one of London's most prestigious Auction Houses and later I lived for years in Paris, Moscow, Morocco, Budapest and back to Spain, which gave me a very special view of how art breathes today, and how it can improve our life. Oscar Wilde was right when he said "One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art".
I will provide you with a glass of good spanish wine and some olives, or another drink if that's not your thing
I include special full tickets for the Reina Sofia Museum, so we can skip the usually long queue
