We'll start off at St Lawrence Market, the city's main food market and a magnet for both locals and tourists. After going through the market and sampling some of the best food the market has to offer, we'll venture into the surrounding area where we'll visit a couple of independent coffee shops and a bakery. We'll end in the Distillery District, an area which is a mashup of classic architecture and modern design. After exploring the area and taking some cool photos, our final stop will be Arvo Coffee where we'll sip more coffee or tea and eat gourmet toast at their toast bar. Behind the delicious food and coffee are the people who work at and own the small businesses that make the products. Along our trip, we'll meet them and talk about the thought and passion they put into their work. Want to experience the neighborhood the way locals do? Join us!
I was born and raised in Toronto and created a guide to the city centered around food and coffee called 24 Hours in Toronto. I've lived next door to St Lawrence Market for many years now and love the market and the small businesses that make the area so special. My parents are from El Salvador and because coffee is one of the country's main crops, I was introduced to coffee at an early age (though I wasn't allowed to drink it). I knew what a moka pot was very early on! I am now on a never-ending quest to find every good cup of coffee in the city.
Delicious snacks We'll be sampling some of the best food in the city including peameal bacon sandwiches, bagels, and…
Coffee or tea
We'll be visiting St Lawrence Market and the Distillery District and walking through the residential and commercial area between those two points. The independent coffee shops we visit will include Fahrenheit Coffee which is a short walk away from St Lawrence Market and Arvo Coffee which is in the Distillery District.
Wear comfortable and weather-appropriate shoes and clothing because we will be walking outdoors. Also, please let me know of any dietary restrictions or food allergies in advance.
