We will start this experience at the Venice boardwalk, where I'll teach you the basics of skateboarding. You'll learn how to stand, kick push, and eventually be able to skate down the vibrant waterfront. The boardwalk is filled with all sorts of people, smells, sounds, and vibes—but most of all, it's filled with tourists. But when you hop on a skateboard, you become a local. We will skate, laugh, make friends, maybe grab a coffee or beer, and even hang out on the beach. Depending on how you progress, we may try to skate in other local spots. Skateboarding started in Venice, and you will always make friends while skating. People will stop to talk to you and sometimes, they might even want to take photos with you. I'll make sure to take some awesome pictures of you on a board and you will leave feeling like a real local—and, you'll know how to skate.
Lucy from NY, where no one ever skated, thought you needed to be a badass surfer type to get on a skateboard and was so scared until she met Gabe. He taught her how to skate in a slow, organized way and it changer her life. Together, Gabe and Lucy skate every day, teach skating to foster children, and really just loves being part of the skateboard culture of Southern California. We both love to teach skateboarding because it gave us both confidence and freedom, and it helped us to make friends. We want to share that with as many people as possible.
Skateboard I'll provide the skateboards. Wear sneakers or shoes that are secure—but sandals won't work. Bring helmet if you…
We'll be on the Venice Boardwalk and Venice Beach, where all the locals hang out. We will start here and then continue down the boardwalk toward the Santa Monica Pier, where we'll skate and check out the pier and beach. I know all the local spots for the best coffee and drinks. Please note as we might stop to drink or grab a bite, you'll want to bring money for purchases.
