Discover ways to write a unique city journal, creating a vivid evocative personal souvenir inspired by a particular place and time, reflecting your own vision and individual voice. We'll start with tea and talk; I'll give you your own 'London Journal' hand-printed notebook to write in. For creative inspiration, we'll read from some great London diarists - like Virginia Woolf 'street-haunting' - and explore the power of words. I'll demonstrate professional techniques to make your own journal entries vivid, conjure up the spirit of place, create atmosphere and 'catch the moment'. There'll be time to write, hear work-in-progress within our small friendly group, and develop what you've written (with more tea and cake to support the creative process!). You'll leave with the personal souvenir you've created; your London Journal notebook containing today's written journal entry, with inspiration, tasks and a blueprint to continue writing a journal of permanent value which will always remind you of this time in London - and the skills for journal-writing wherever you may be. Both Londoners and travellers find this workshop inspiring, memorable and very effective - see reviews...

As a life-long Londoner with a passionate love of the city I keep a LONDON JOURNAL - a pleasure and skill I enjoy sharing with others who are inspired by this strange and wonderful place. I've given readings and talks about writers and life-writing at the V&A (Friday Lates) and Southbank Centre (Literature and Spoken Word Programmes) among many other venues in London and elsewhere, including the Edinburgh International Book Festival and BBC Radio 4.

London Journal notebook A classic A5 journal notebook to write in, with hand-printed title page.
Potters' Yard is a writer & artist's studio and working pottery in literary north London (Tufnell Park, not far from Hampstead Heath and Camden). It's a unique private space, full of inspiring London-themed books and art, so the experience of writing there is very special. We'll be in the vintage travelling van stationed in the flowery cobbled yard, or - depending on weather & numbers - out of doors or in the beautiful studio itself.
最多可有4位年满16周岁的参与者参加。 Access - there are four companionway steps up to the travelling van.
This workshop is suitable for people with experience of writing or absolute beginners (with a good command of English); you only need to bring creative enthusiasm and a love of words and reading.
