Please message me for a sign up link) Dive Into Chinese Culture and Cuisine on Philly’s Chinatown Tour. I will lead you through Chinatown, giving some history between stops. You'll get the chance to explore a Chinese herbal medicine shop, and even swing by a Chinese bakery and enjoy some fresh treats with bubble tea. At the end of the tour, I will bring you an authentic local Asian market where you can spend more time exploring and shopping there! There's much more on the agenda, so if you want to learn more about Chinese culture and cuisine, don't miss this unique tour. You may reserve a special group tour.
As a dumpling expert and the founder of Dumpling Academy, I host classes and competitions based on the iconic food. I have worked in City Kitchen for the dumpling making show at the Reading Terminal Market as its guest chef for Chinese New Year. I was also interviewed by “What’s Cooking” on 1060 by Hadas Kuznits, of the Philadelphia (CBS) KYW radio station about Chinese New Year. In early 2017, I was invited by the show, Travel & Adventure, to host a dumpling making show in the PA Convention Center. I also operate the "Five Spice Tour of Philly's Chinatown" - cultural walking tour with dim sum tasting to Philly Chinatown. Great News! I just opened our famous Dumpling+Bubble Tea Making Class on Sept 2nd on airbnb.
In this Chinatown tour (depending on the timing), walk through a Chinese herbal medicine shop, a Chinese bakery, Chinatown Mural Art, a fish market, a Chinese arts and crafts store, a fried ice cream shop, and Chinatown Friendship Gate etc, end with shopping at an authentic local Asian market. I will point out to you the best roasted duck house, dim sum house, Japanese Roman Soup in Chinatown.
Bring your own camera. Bring some money if you want to make a purchase along the way during the tour, e.g. buy bubble tea or Chinese bun at the bakery shop. Host will not cover any items you purchase during the tour.
