You'll be introduced to open water swimming in Cape Town. Really!? Really. Swimming in Cape Town is absolutely stunning. During the workshop we'll slowly guide you through the cold water and the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean. If you are a swimmer and if you would love to find out what open water swimming is all about, our workshop offer what you are looking for. We swim in the ocean at Small Bay or Big Bay. Date and time can change due to weather conditions. As this is an introduction of open water swimming, we'll take it easy for everyone. Bring your cap (or borrow one of mine), swimming goggles and your smile. Swimmers of all levels are welcome. You'll receive personal coaching, advice and training. My goal is that you feel more comfortable with swimming in open water and that your body (especially mind) is in control during the cold water exposure. We'll swim for about 30 minutes and speed or distance is not important. The swim will be supported with a SUP (Stand Up Paddle). Please don't worry about your swimming technique or speed. This workshop is just to learn to embrace and enjoy open water swimming! When we get out of the water, we drink tea together to warm up again.
Simone's passion for open water swimming started a few years ago after swimming long distances in South Africa. Whilst she was studying in Cape Town, she got in touch with the beauty of open water swimming. The nature, people and ever-changing water conditions made her fall in love with open water swimming. She is connected to the open water swimming community and rescue services in Cape Town. Whenever possible, you'll find Simone practising open water swimming all year round in the Netherlands and South Africa. Besides her swimming adventures, Simone is working as a medical doctor. Today, she wants to share that passion with as many people as possible. That's why she's organising open water swimming workshops and fully catered holidays in Cape Town. Come and explore the beauty of open water swimming!
We swim in Small Bay (in front of restaurant 'Ons Huissie') or at Big Bay (we collect at the LifeSaving Club). This depends on the weather conditions. We'll let you know on the day of the workshop.
最多可有6位年满18周岁的参与者参加。 Every participant who wants to join is able to swim. If we have any doubts about this, we won't let you swim further.
Swimming goggle and colourful swimming cap
We only swim with safe conditions (small waves, little currents), close to shore and with enough support on SUP or Kayak. Lifeguards are keeping a close eye on us.
