Seochon—where my studio is located—is an old Seoul neighborhood that inspires me. Here, I can see old and new, and find inspiration in the hidden alleys, small galleries, and historic architecture. We'll stroll through the alleys of Seochon so I can show you the secret treasures I keep for myself. We'll stop by the interesting art museum of korean landscape painter Lee sang-beom. Then we'll go to my studio to paint together and enjoy some Korean tea and dessert. I'll provide the materials for you to learn Minhwa—Korean folk painting—while you experience the beauty of traditional painting with resident artists. you'll learn the modern and fun-loving aesthetic of Korean culture. I will guide you and help you bring your finished work back home safely.
I am an artist living in Seoul. I am specialized in using textile material. tapestry is my main language to express my ideas. I have researched technique for about 10 years, experiment lots of material and colours. Now I have been focused on small tapestry weaving which is quite fun to know if you want to have some quiet moment of your life. We'll be in Seochon, the western area of Seoul, next to Gyeongbokgung, where the bourgeoisie, artists, and poets of the Joseon Dynasty lived. Unlike well-known tourist spots, this village is prohibited to be commercialized. The backstreets are filled with traditional hanok and Joseon-style homes and a few modern buildings. you will come to our studio which is situated heart of seochon.
