The experience is a walking tour of David Bowie's New York. The guests shall be given a guided tour to some of the locales and other spots of New York that have had a significant impact and influence on the life and career of the artist known as David Bowie. We'll talk about how the musical and cultural history of New York has influenced and contributed to David's earlier artistic creations - Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane - and how the city established a foothold throughout his career and helped contribute to his latter day achievements. Using the city as a backdrop, we explore the career of one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st century and retrace some of his steps in one of the world's most famous cities.
I've been a fan of David Bowie for 20 years, and I am excited to share and explore the city that David Bowie called home for 24 years. His is a life and career that keeps on giving to us all. I’m a Licensed New York City Tour Guide. I have been hosting the David Bowie Walking Tour for the last 4 years. I have been featured in The Lonely Planet and participated with Brooklyn Museum’s David Bowie Is Exhibition in 2018.
The West Village offers our first connection with David and New York City: Jazz music; and then it's off to Washington Square Park which offers an insight into the personal attachment that David had with New York, and a link to the early 1970s. Next, the historical Cast Iron District demonstrates the anonymity that New York afforded David in his 24 years spent as a resident, and we extend our trip though Nolita and finishing in NoHo.
