My Strudel and Stroll Walking Tour provides guests with an opportunity to construct their very own Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel) with the chef from the iconic Hahndorf Inn as well as work up a bit of an appetite on a 90min walking tour of the village. Can you smell that cinnamon, steamed apple, and pastry? That's what you'll be enjoying on your return to the Inn after your walking tour. Your very own warm, delicious Apple Strudel served with vanilla bean ice-cream, cream and a hot beverage or soft drink of your choice. While your strudel is being cooked you'll be able join a 90min walking tour with Hahndorf Walking Tours to visit other historic destinations in the village, a couple of tastings and lots of stories and quirky tales from the oldest Germanic village in the Southern Hemisphere. The tour includes a visit to our best historic pear tree in the village, shingled roof home and fachwerk architecture. All locations hidden to those not in 'the know' The concludes at the St Paul's Lutheran church where we have exclusive access. A short walk can be taken to Beerenberg Strawberry Farm and of course you need to return to the Inn at your leisure to enjoy your very own strudel cooked to perfection.
A descendant of Pioneering families in South Australia I am a proud local who will share with you the history of my country, my state and most importantly for this tour, my happy place and home - Hahndorf. Hahndorf is the oldest Germanic village in the Southern Hemisphere. I am an avid historian and storyteller. My friends enjoy my sense of humour and straight forward manner. I tell it as it is and don't waste time but I'm also a great listener and love to hear about you too. After spending many years in the corporate and not for profit arena's I can now spend my time sharing my village with you. As a host and tour guide I'm knowledgeable and adaptable and always want the best for anyone on a tour/experience with Hahndorf Walking Tours. I am a strong supporter of The Salvation Army and 10% of my income goes to them.
Your very own strudel served with icecream and cream and a hot beverage or non alcoholic drink of your choice.
Unique fackwerk architecture, famous landscape artist, Sir Hans Heysen's painting which was found in a ceiling in Germany, the Kings Shoot apron made of silver and only recently brought out from the bank vault so you can see it on display. (he Kings shoot has been held since 1862 and is still held annually). Old historic Hufendorf layout of the village not visible unless you are on a Hahndorf Walking Tour and of course my favourite old pear tree.
Of course check on the weather on the day. Dress appropriately for the walking tour and ensure you have sunscreen or an umbrella - whatever the weather dictates. The tour always goes ahead as we can adapt to the weather.
