You will see a Carnaval rehearsal at the oldest samba school in Rio de Janeiro, Estácio de Sá. The school is a class A Top School and is known as the "Cradle of Samba & Carnival". You will understand about its different actors such as the master of drums, dancers, and flag bearer. You will understand what Carnival is all about and it's history and of course receive a mini lesson of the basic steps of Carnival Samba.
I always have been fascinated by the Rio Carnival which is truly the biggest show I know. The samba schools prepare all year for one week of parade competition and I like to follow this preparation and learn from it and make lasting human connections. Much can be learned from the Carnival, all from dancing to enjoying life. The energy is amazing and there are high stakes involved for the schools. In my view the Carnival culture is the heart and soul of Rio de Janeiro. A side hobby is to capture the top dancers in Rio on video thru my channel https://www.facebook.com/riodancestory/
We will visit, on rehearsal night, the oldest and one of the most traditional samba schools in Rio de Janeiro, "Estácio de Sá", founded in 1928.
There is no metro after midnight, so we will leave the samba school by taxi or Uber at an additional charge. We can try to ride share. Uber to Copacabana/Ipanema is about 25 Brazilian Reais.
