Origami developed from techniques for folding paper that first emerged in Japan during ancient times. During the 2 hours workshop, you will learn how to make origami crane and make accessories with it. The crane is considered auspicious in Japan as a traditional symbol of longevity. You will start the experience with finding your favourite paper from thousonds of beautiful designs! After that, you will make small paper cranes. Then, you will make them into accessories. During the process, you will be assisted by me who step by step will help you in the development of the object. At the end of the workshop, you will take home your creation as a souvenir of your trip to Japan. Or if you will have Kimono experience, you can coordinate Kimono with your original accessory! Tea and coffee will be served during the experience.
I am Yu, a Ph.D. student of art history. I like crafting, and I've been making accessories as my hobby from a very young age. I'd like to share the fun of making things with you and let you know Japanese culture by offering the chance to experience the world of Japanese traditional crafts. The experience is held at a small art gallery located in the heart of Osaka (only 1 stop from Higashi Used station). It is run by my parents and me. It's very convenient and easy to find. You can enjoy making Tsumami surrounded by artworks.
