I'll introduce and demonstrate the basics of Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, and then you'll create your own flower art. You'll be able to choose from raw materials that I'll provide: flowers, branches, and vases. This session uses tropical plants and flowers from Southeast Asia, like orchids, ginger flowers, heliconia, palm, bamboo, and can even include tropical fruits like rambutan, coconut or dragon fruit. I'll provide tips and technical help (like how to get a branch to stand nicely at an angle), but the fun of balancing colour, space, texture and flow is all up to you. Photos of your creation at the end.
