Oh hello, it's me, Alice! Come and join me for a joyous morning on the cobbled streets of East London learning how to create your very own beautiful lettering. We'll start off with a splendid cup of tea and a slice of cake while introduce you to the world of Modern Calligraphy. I'll share all my most important tips and tricks, how to use my most favourite supplies, then we'll get to the most important bit, practicing! This is a beginner's workshop, starting from scratch, we will start with practice exercises, then move on to letterforms and by the end of the session I'll show you how to connect the letters and write your name - it's not as easy as it looks, but it's very relaxing to learn! Everything you use in the class is exactly the same as what I professionally use, and you get to take it all home so you can practice your new skill! Alice even provides her 'Master List' of favourite stores and websites to give you plenty of inspiration and a wealth of sneaky calligraphy secrets. Alice also teaches the same class at a different venue, 'Learn Calligraphy with Alice Gabb'. To see more of my work do visit @alicegabb or www.alicegabb.com
I work full time from my little studio in East London as a Lettering Artist and Modern Calligrapher. I graduated from Art School ten years ago and have been working as an artist ever since. In the early days I sold my hand printed stationery at Broadway Market in Hackney (do visit if you haven't been!) and that led to many exciting press features, and eventually a range with Anthropologie. I was amongst the first handful of artists to learn Modern Calligraphy in the UK, and I've done many courses since with some of my favourite lettering masters. We all have a different and unique approach! There is absolutely nothing I love more than showing you my favourite hang-outs in London where I can share all my tips and tricks with you over some tea and cake. - Featured in Time Out, Vanity Fair, Homes and Gardens, Sunday Times Style -
