This experience makes you explore one of the most beautiful natural spot near Rome which is only a 40 minutes city train ride from downtown, but already gives you the chance to unwind, relax, breath in the pure air of the hills, and forget all the hustle and bustle of Rome. I walk you through the medieval towns that were founded in ancient times on the shores of the blue and clean Bracciano Lake. We stroll around silent and romantic alleys of the villages where a lot of people have moved to retire and live a laid back, relaxed life, looking out from panoramic points and visiting a superbly well-preserved medieval castle that dominates the lake and was chosen as a wedding location by popular actors. We do an easy hike to a village that was suddenly abandoned a few centuries ago, holding amazingly preserved ruins. You will walk through the remains of the ancient city of Monterano. During the hike, you will see one of the most off-the-beaten path ancient ruins, dating back from the Etruscan period to Renaissance. We will have a picnic of local products near the ruins.
I'm Annalisa, an accredited tour leader born and bred in Roma. Traveling is my biggest passion together with photography and writing. I was an expat from 2010 to 2016. From then on, I'm enthusiast about sharing the historical, artistic, and natural wonders of my city with friends and travelers. I'm also a certified teacher of Italian as a second language. As you can see from my travel blog, I love to explore new places, connecting with people from different cultures, spreading the joy to have a new destination.
