In the workshop you will learn how to make a wall art piece, or a practical item such as a purse, table mat or a bag. You will cut the weaving from the frame and learn some finishing techniques then you may take the weaving and your own personal weaving frame home to make another tapestry in your own time. We will start with a welcome cup of tea or coffee, and I'll show you around my studio. Then we will start to work. You will get your personal weaving frame to work on and select your own colours from a large library of yarns. I will teach you the core weaving skills of how to wind on a cotton warp, make knots, weave plain and diagonal patterns, use texture, and create a tapestry. This activity is suitable for children, adults and family groups, and is customisable to suit all needs ages and abilities. I also offer Master Classes to people who are already weavers who wish to explore new techniques such as blending colours, goasting and translating a design into a woven piece.
I am a renowned textile artist and tapestry weaver and my work is in collections around the world. I have had many solo shows and have collaborated to bring the International Fibre art festival to Ireland. Tapestry weaving in the Goblin style is an ancient method still practised today. I have worked locally and internationally as an artist and educator for over 35 years. I am passionate about passing on my skills and knowledge to the young and not-so-young. I teach beginners to advanced learners in the beautiful surroundings of the rural county of Roscommon, where I live and work.

You will stay in Grange Studio for the four-hour workshop. Nearby is Strokestown house and archaeological sites of Rathcroghen.
最多可有6位年满8周岁的参与者参加。 Anybody can learn to weave. However, I have discovered that the best age to start is over six years old. Adult learners can take the skills to a very high level. All that is required is a desire to learn.
