See elite runners’ roots as we visit a family shamba (a Swahili term for a small farm). An invitation into a family shamba is a great honor; don’t expect luxury (or even running water) but do expect to be welcomed with open arms. We'll also visit a primary school, where you will be welcomed by staff who will share the joys and challenges of teaching in rural Kenya.
We'll walk through maize fields to visit a traditional shamba homestead, a small plot that's both home and farm and provides a glimpse into the lives of rural Kenyans. Kameriny Primary School is a typical rural school, providing the best they can for their students in difficult circumstances.
