You'll be taken on a magical musical journey through the 8 year recording career of The Beatles. We'll look at one iconic song per year from 1963 through to 1970, exploring how the Beatles were always one step ahead of the game, continually innovating whilst also taking the public along for the ride. We will look at how they used the combination of melody, lyrics, chord changes, recording techniques and arrangement to create their powerful 3 minute pop songs. If you're a Beatle enthusiast and your partner is not, they can just enjoy the view from the balcony and the sound of the Pacific ocean overlooking one of Sydney's most famous beaches. Samantha, our host, will be looking after everything non music related.
Darryl: I've been a music teacher for 40 years, teaching everything from piano to guitar, drums, bass, singing etc. I'm in a number of bands and I mentor young bands. What's inspired me these many years is my love of The Beatles. I know everything about their music that there is to know, how their composing changed over their career, what influenced them, how various albums were created and so on. Right down to the technical detail of chord changes and harmonies. I love sharing this with others so if you're a composer or just appreciate the Beatles music, you will love this session.
Dips, olives, wine etc Following the session we can recommend local restaurants where you can get an excellent dinner.
The workshop is on the "Republic of Ben Buckler" which is what the locals call the peninsular at North Bondi. What better location to confirm your love of The Beatles and potentially get thinking about your own next musical composition. Inspiration at its best, exploring the work of 4 of the most influential musicians in human history, by one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. And a swim and meal nearby afterwards is also possible.

Curiosity about the Beatles and a notepad and pen if you'd like to take notes.
Parking can be a challenge so either a) catch the 333 bus to North Bondi from Bondi Junction or b) bring coins for parking on Queen Elizabeth Drive. I will send you details of both once you've booked.
