We'll meet on my private dock about 90 minutes before high tide and start with a safety briefing. You'll choose between our 14 foot faster kayaks and our 8 or 10 foot more stable craft based on self reporting of your watercraft/kayak experience. When everyone is comfortable we'll depart as I guide you down Simpkins Creek. We may stay in the various adjoining small creeks or make our way to Ellis Creek which is the entry to Charleston Harbor. The marshes are beautiful most any time of year. We'll likely see birds like white Ibis (Curlews), Egrets, Herons, Summer Ducks or Mergansers (diving ducks) in winter. We'll likely see fish jumping and miles of marsh-grass (brilliant green in summer) or we may see gorgeous sunsets or dolphins and hear the call of Marsh Hens. A bit of the history of the island or the ecology of the marsh are available from the guide, should you request it or simply sit back and enjoy the serenity of the season and scene. It's a bit of an upper body workout but you completely control the pace and duration of our gentle ride on the creek. We have found that limiting the experience to 4 people makes for a more cohesive and enjoyable small group event. If, however, you would like to add one or two persons to your group, please inquire and let's discuss it.
I've been traveling the world for the last 25 years and have been motoring, sailing and paddling everything from kayaks to 70-foot motor yachts for several decades. I was USCG licensed as a 100-ton master of motor and sailing vessels, and at one point was an associate of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors and Member-American Boat and Yacht Council. I moved to this house on James Island about 4 years ago and almost immediately began kayaking and motor boating along the waters here, near my home. I fell in love with it and would like to share with you, on the water, why that happened.
Bottled water is provided
PFDs, paddles & kayaks
We'll start in our back yard and from there we'll be kayaking the tidal creeks of James Island and, potentially, kissing the edge of Charleston harbor. We'll start in our small, shallow, tidal creek and possibly move to larger, Ellis Creek where recreational and fishing boats ply.
最多可有4位年满14周岁的参与者参加。 All guests should be physically fit such that he or she is comfortable climbing up and down a 3 rung ladder and stepping into a secured but movable kayak.
Jackets, sunglasses, hats and an understanding that it's a work-out but a fun one, is always a good starting attitude! And, before you ask, we've not seen an alligator...yet! See you on the water!!
