Tide pools, or rocky intertidal zones, are small collections of ocean water trapped by rocks as the ocean level recedes. This area is covered by the ocean half of the day- during high tide- and the pools are exposed at low tide, which creates a unique, yet fragile, habitat for lots of small invertebrates and fish!
At our meeting spot, I will give you a brief talk on safety and tide pool rules, as all San Diego tide pools have a strict "no collection" policy. Once we understand how to tide pool safely and respectfully, the adventure begins!
Other things to note
- Children 3 years and under are free!
- I can also host private/group/extended (longer) sessions, contact me for more information - Guests must wear close-toed shoes that will get wet -

Without divulging too much information, as this area is somewhat hidden, these tide pools are near La Jolla and Pacific Beach. Often, students from local universities conduct studies and surveys at these pools. Once you book this experience, you will receive information on the exact address of our meeting spot.
Matt was great, the tidal pools were very cool, the view was gorgeous and the time he took to share his expertise in a fun and engaging way with our 8-year old twins was priceless!! I would recommend this experience to anyone, children or adults, that want to learn more about this gorgeous stretch of the California coastline.
