We will begin our adventure by meeting at Desa Sri Hartamas at a local eatery in an area with plenty of parking. We will start with a warm up along leafy streets for roughly 1.5kms on our way to the trail head. As we enter the trail system, the noise of KL city life will cease as we meander along single track, spotting wildlife and unique flora as we get a feel for the trails. We will then begin exploring a variety of trail options depending on participants experience, but there will definitely be some solid hill climbing involved. As we reach the 287m summit if Bukit Kiara we are treated with nice views of the surrounding Mont Kiara area. We will look out for squirrels, a variety of monkeys, land tortoises and civet cats as we run. Our descent from the summit will give us views over the western side of KL to suburbs such as TTDI and Damansara Perdana and we will hit some fun sections of trail that will require some steady feet. Upon our return to Desa Sri Hartamas we will catch up for a hearty local meal of fresh coconut, local coffee/tea, roti canai and other local breakfast specialities.
I have lived and worked in KL for 6 Years and Bukit Kiara has been my playground. Exploring the 40km+ of trails in this incredible green space just outside KLCC has been a unique way of connecting with this vibrant city. I am an avid ultra marathon runner and have competed in numerous high profile trail running events in Malaysia, South East Asia and Europe. I am passionate about nature, sustainability and outdoor adventure.

Bukit Kiara is an unmarked trail system. To access these trails requires experience and intimate knowledge of the range of options within the park. We will be exploring less trodden parts of the trail network. The trails are exclusively ‘single track’ and are set amongst true secondary Malaysian rainforest with stunning flora and fauna.
