During the seven hours we will enjoy together (including an hour for delicious lunch!), we will design, plot out and paint or cut our wallpaper panels with tips for composition, repeats, finishes, techniques, colour and materials. We will discuss the use of metallics, painting onto plain wallpaper (this is what you will take home with you), canvas or directly onto prepared walls.
Wall art has long been my passion: at the age of 3, tenderly fingering fabrics, with my PhD in architecture and Landscape Architecture, I painted murals and designed playgrounds in Waldorf schools and kindergartens, using natural pigments and themes from nature. Commissioned for murals with articles in leading Berlin design magazines (DECO, SEIN), I moved to Somerset to open a gallery where I sold my work in oils and watercolours. My great-uncle Rex Whistler famously painted the Plas Newydd Mural, Angelsea & the Tate Gallery Restaurant inspired me. I paint, cut and stencil wallpaper.

You can stay at my lovely Air BnB for the night or locally. In Ilminster, you may enjoy the cafe of FEAST, Celandine Restaurant, Barrington House National Trust, or Dillington Park for walks. Ilminster is a quaint country town, still fully-functioning as a community with antique and deco shops, summer festivals, 40 minutes from the coast and set in rolling countryside.

You do not need fancy drawing skills as many wallpapers can be constructed out of found objects, stencils and simple repeated forms. You will be drawing and painting so bring an apron, or old shirt.
