Come on a 'Talk & Tour' at the RSN and get exclusive access to historic apartments hidden 'behind the velvet rope' at Hampton Court Palace. The RSN showcases themed temporary exhibitions focusing on hand embroidered pieces from the RSN Textile Collection and students' contemporary work. Enjoy an illustrated Talk on RSN history and the theme of the exhibition, followed by a guided Tour given by an RSN Volunteer (1.5hrs). Depending on the confidentiality of commissions in our Embroidery Studio, you may have the opportunity to see our stitchers working. Alternatively, attend a 'Curator's Tour' where you will also be shown additional Collection pieces (2hrs), or a popular 'Tour & Taster' where you attend the Talk & Tour followed by a 2.5hrs 'Taster' hand embroidery workshop stitching a kit inspired by a piece from the exhibition and taught by an RSN Tutor.

The Royal School of Needlework is a registered charity 312774 and our mission is to keep the traditional art of hand embroidery alive and thriving. Founded in 1872, the RSN teaches beginners to advanced the art and craft of hand embroidery, as well as a three year BA (Hons) Hand Embroidery for Fashion, Interiors, Textile Art Degree, and RSN Future Tutors Programme training our Tutors of tomorrow.

You will enter historic apartments which were historically grace in favour apartments lived in by those who had spent their career working for the Royal family. The RSN Embroidery Studio (dated from 1537), where you will visit the exhibition, is believed to have been Anne Boleyn's apartments, where the ladies did their needlework!
