Explore Belleville's wine side with this convivial winebar crawl. The quarter's long history with wine has evolved into one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods for natural wines and innovative cuisine, served simply and with flare. This tour takes you on an insider's journey to some of the best winebars in the city, tantalizing your tastebuds and awaking all your senses. Starting at one of the city's hidden wine-producing vineyards, the once prolific vines of Belleville have been reduced to a small plot in the Parc de Belleville as a reminder of this quarters dynamic wine history. Planted to Pinot Meunier from Champagne and Chardonnay from Burgundy in a little corner at the top of the park, the slopes of the Parc de Belleville provide one of the best views of the city. From there it's one great winebar after another, each spot featuring wines selected for their vibrancy and charm. Small shared dishes created with the best seasonal ingredients, at times by top chefs, complement each tasting. You can also book my other experiences here https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/7211110
I have been travelling the vineyards of France since my arrival in the 1980s and have made friends with wine-makers everywhere. My first year was spent working in an organic vineyard near Saint-Emilion and I have since lead wine and gastronomic tours all over the country, always focussed on natural, living wines. I have taught courses on wine, made a film about biodynamic wine and attend professional tastings on a regular basis. As a passionate cook, I am especially concerned with quality and so have selected only the best for this experience. We go beyond the standard cheese, bread and charcuterie pairings to include small inventive plates for each wine tasting,
There is a minimum of three different natural wines, one in each winebar. These are selected for their charm and vitality.
The Clos des Envierges, located in the south-east corner of the Parc de Belleville, is one of Paris' rare wine producing vineyards. Our crawl begins here as a tribute to the history of this wine-rich quarter and then descends to our first wine tasting on the rue de Belleville. From there we wind our way through the bustle of this iconic street to a quiet winebar on the boulevard de la Villette and then to our last stop near the Place Saint Marthe
An umbrella if it's wet and good vibes
The end of the tour is open-ended, meaning guests are free to prolong their experience at the last winebar.
