In a 30 minute meeting at a hotel lobby/cafe, I quickly learn about your experience levels and questions and then share my own insights into what street photography is about, from my own experience shooting over 2000 street photos and from studying masters of the art form. You will discover new ways of thinking about this unique art form and what being a photographer means to you. We will spread out within a few block radius and spend 90 minutes shooting in a part of LA that is visually exciting and filled with interesting people and places to shoot. We then reconvene at the hotel lobby/cafe and share each other's photographs, on our cameras and my iPad. I spend an hour with the group, giving specific feedback on your work and answering questions. By the end of this experience, you will know more about photography, about L.A., about engaging with total strangers than you did when we started. Learn to let go, have fun and engage deeply with the world around you! Street photography is an engaging, fun, challenging experience, unlike any other art form. It changed my life and I believe our time together will take your photography to another level.
In 2014, I struck out as a street photographer in L.A. to radically change my life. On IG, my gallery, @EverybodyGetsShotInLA, was recognized for capturing a very L.A. aesthetic and vibe. L.A. people, its unique urban landscape and street life are all my focus. I also have a special ability to connect with total strangers and make them part of my artistic process- and I'll show you how you can, too! It thrills me to help photographers at all levels push their own limits by engaging with this intense art form. You will improve your understanding of lighting, focus, composition and more. It's about learning how to find your own way, your own "voice." I love helping people discover that! My mantra: "The greatest gift you can give someone is a new lens through which to see the world and themselves."
We meet at a lovely park in Hollywood, steeped in the city's moviemaking history, or at a favorite boutique hotel lobby/cafe that's a "best kept L.A. secret." Each photographer will explore areas within walking distance, the "challenge" being to find great photographic opportunities no matter where you are. "What is a "great" street photography opportunity and where do you find them?" is one of our most important subjects.

You can be any level photographer with any kind of camera- even a phone camera. This is not about gear- it's about developing your visual language, interacting with people and the urban environment.
