Sicily without the Sicilians wouldn't be the same! Visiting a city doesn't mean only visiting its monuments but also MEET LOCAL PEOPLE that you can't never find by yourself or in an official guide book. You will join me to experience the authentic Palermo. I will lead you through the off-beaten and exclusive paths because I'd like you to experience the most inner soul of my town from another perspective. We will walk through the local markets of the city where we will meet Andrea, an old tailor-musician who will play the mandolin for us in a place where the time seems still. I will also introduce you Pietro, a retired man who decided to establish, in a narrow alley, an outdoor library with more than 70.000 books. I will also offer you the opportunity to taste the best Italian coffee in a place where the coffee beans are homemade roasted with very ancient traditional tools. Along our walk, I will tell you about street stories, we will discuss together about the contrasts of Palermo but also about history, art and traditions. I promise you not to be the boring "old style" academic tour guide but a friend of you :)
Hi! My name is Enrica. I'm an art historian and a licensed tour guide but above all a 100% authentic Sicilian. After living in Spain and UK, I decided to move back to my beloved Palermo. Since I was a little girl, I have always had a special passion for sharing with people my discovering. Then I transformed them in my main job. It's a great exchange: seeing my world through the eyes of curious people and giving them a part of myself and the freshness of my insider touch.
Best coffee ever in PMO
Tips to the locals are included
We start from Capo Market and learn about the culture of food and shopping in Palermo. We stop in Andrea's tailor shop where we will be amazed by the sound of his mandolin he will performed for us. We continue to the colorful road of the Sicilian charts and taste the best coffee of Italy in the oldest traditional roasting shop. We end in Vucciria district by getting a book for free from Pietro's outdoor library.
Comfortable shoes and a bottle of water
It's almost a 3 km WALKING TOUR with no many places where to seat. The tour starts and ends in front of Massimo Theatre. In case of rain it might be not possible to visit the outdoor library.
