Part run/part hike, we will explore SF by foot, focusing on finding lush corners of parks and taking in views of well known landmarks from a different vantage point. I prefer to connect city streets with trails that remove you from the hustle and bustle of a major metropolitan city. We'll end the run at one of my favorite coffee spots for a refreshing finish to an invigorating morning! Our 4.5 mile loop will start in Golden Gate Park and wind through the trails before popping into the Inner Sunset neighborhood as we make our way over to Mount Sutro Open Reserve for some trail running/hiking. We'll then make our way through the neighborhood of Twin Peaks as we wind our way to the top of Twin Peaks. Photo op! It can be very cold with the wind whipping at the summit, so we'll jog up the stairs to one of the peaks to keep warm before descending through the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. Optional caffeine jolt at one of my favorite coffee shops. We'll be about a half mile from our starting point. Multiple opportunities for great photos. Flexible and relaxed pace as this experience is all about nature and the views!
Born and raised in Southern California, I developed a love of running when I moved to Boston. I've run 7 marathons and last year, I qualified for Boston 2019 - an amazing experience that both crushed and inspired me. I love to travel and go running in every new city as it's the best way to explore, orient yourself to the geography, and see the small details that make a city unique. I've run to the top of a castle in Budapest to watch the sun rise over the river, up and down the stairs of Bellagio, Italy before re-fueling on gelato, and across Seattle to verify the #1 donut was really #1!
The neighborhoods we'll be exploring are Golden Gate Park, Inner Sunset, Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve and the Interior Greenbelt, Twin Peaks and Sutro Tower, and Haight-Ashbury. Combined terrain and stairs. These are some of the most famous neighborhoods/places in SF, but approached from unique directions and without the hassle of parking or traffic. And you appreciate the views so much more when it was your own two feet that got you there!
