First of all we´ll visit my place of birth in Old Havana and its surroundings where coexist history and modernity. We will make a walk over some key places on this city. It will be a great opportunity to contrast the Cuba's current changes with the Cubans' every day life. Then will arrive at the Morro Castle Fortress across the bay and we will take a time to enjoy great views of the old and modern Havana and to watch our unparalleled tropical twilight. Then we will explore the fortress, its bastions, moats, gates and cannons that have been witnesses of many historical events such as the occupation of Havana by the English in 1762. We will visit CheGuevara' s office in the fortress which it is a museum with many Guevara's objects. Then we will go to a nice private restaurant near the sea, a new Cuban phenomenon in response to calls from Cubans for the right to earn money through private enterprise, and we will talk about this topic and other Cuba's changes. Then we will enjoy a welcome cocktail while we wait to enjoy the great show: The 9 o' clock Cannon Shot (9 p.m).A beautiful tradition that dates from eighteenth century and announced the opening and the closing of the city walls. If you wish to book a date that is not added or change the timetable, please contact me and we can work it out.
I studied English at the University of Havana. Then I took postgraduate studies in Preservation and Management of Culture Patrimony in order to work as a tour guide at Morro-Cabaña Historical-Military Park, one of Cuba´s most important historical sites, declared World Heritage Site and where it is celebrated the famous 9 O´clock Cannon Shot. I have worked as an English language teacher, translator of historic documents and tour guide for different state institutions during 17 years. I love Havana and its inhabitants, including their history, culture, idiosyncrasies and culinary traditions.
