You will be greeted at the house with appetizers, agua fresca, and small talk as we wait for all guests to arrive. Then we will begin the cooking class where you will get to participate in making homemade enchiladas, tostadas, or tacos de carne asada. Martín will explain the steps, materials, seasonings, and cultural significance of the dish. After we finish cooking, we will share a meal together at our table. During this time Martín and I will let guests questions about Mexico, Mexican culture, food, the Spanish language, etc. After dinner, a small Mexican treat will be provided. Optional activities afterward will include tour of a Mezcal bar in downtown Raleigh or going salsa dancing with us.
I grew up in Tennessee and Mexico, studied Spanish in high school, and then studied abroad in Costa Rica and Belize. I fell in love with the Spanish language, as well as Hispanic culture. I love cooking, meeting new people, and sharing about culture. Martín was born and grew up in Mexico. He finished school in the US and loves to share about his Mexican heritage. He is an avid chef and food conossueir with a passion for creating and sharing flavorful Mexican dishes. Our goal is to share Mexican culture, language, and food in an intimate setting with new friends.
