Put on your comfy walking shoes and let's look at San Miguel de Allende through your sketchbook! We'll meet in the main jardin in front of the big, pink neo-Gothic church, "La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel", and begin with some warm-up exercises before sketching our way around town. Our small groups of no more than 6 will have an opportunity to discuss what we see and how to capture the essence of your travels through this colorful Mexican colonial-era city in your pocket sketchbook, which will be provided to you, as will a pencil (but you are welcome to bring along your own art tools as well). This is Urban Sketching without the rules, and we'll cover the basics of how to sketch while traveling. We'll spend time walking in Centro, sketching on location, and will end in a local café, where you can add color to your sketches with paints, pens and markers that I provide. You'll leave with your colorful sketchbook, and the encouragement to continue to sketch your daily life.
I'm a passionate daily sketcher, founder of the Urban Sketchers SMA Regional Chapter, and I also organize and host travel sketching workshops throughout Mexico, where we take the time to immerse ourselves in the fascinating art and architecture of Mexico. Sketching on location has enriched my travels, and creates a unique and personal sketchbook of a specific time and place. I love to teach people how to simply sketch their travels, without the rules of urban sketching because there is no wrong way to sketch!
Sketchbook, pencil & sharpener will be given to you. My paints, markers & colored pencils will be available for you to use.
We'll walk to a few of the famed Spanish Baroque style churches located in the center of town, a Mexican folk art store, an open plaza with vendors and people, and end our sketch walk in the serene courtyard of Bellas Artes, where there is also an exceptional café. We don't get many rain days, but in the case of inclement weather or cold temperatures, we'll head inside and explore art and architecture from the inside.
最多可有6位年满18周岁的参与者参加。 No experience necessary, just a desire to travel sketch. Wear comfortable walking shoes (streets are quite uneven and unpredictabe), a sun hat and bring a botte of water.
Sketching tools, if available
This experience is open to beginners and people who have never sketched. The idea is to begin to see with different eyes and to capture your travels in a sketchbook. There is no wrong way to sketch.
