The class will be 2.5 hours long with the first 15 minutes spent on demonstrating how to throw and decorate your own mini pots. The rest of the workshop's time will be free and easy for you to make and color as many mini pots as you can. I will be facilitating and guiding you in your journey to bringing home your own mini ceramic pots. During the workshop, I will be sharing with you the concept and story behind the studio as well as the venue.
I am a Master of Arts graduate from NTU in 2018. Vocationally trained in visual communications. In the duration of my postgraduate studies, I found a hobby in pottery which turned into a serious hobby and now a humble business. In addition, I assist my parents in managing and planning annual events for our family's temple, which is currently my home, as featured in Mothership SG (https://mothership.sg/2019/01/interesting-temple-geylang/). To assist in my venture as a pottery educator, I also teach classes at local pottery studios and collaborated with Diptyque Singapore for ceramic painting class. My objective of holding these workshops is to rethink how pottery can be experienced outside of studio, therefore I also hold mini pottery workshops at art markets, neutral locations and also within the Chinese temple, my home.
Iced water, 3-in-1 coffee mix and green tea will be provided upon request
Clay, pottery tools, colorings and apron will be provided
The location which the pottery experience will be held is in a 110 year old Traditional Chinese Temple in Geylang; which also happens to be my home where I grew up in for 30 years. Within the area, there are delicious food adventures such as JB Ah Meng, a popular seafood restaurant, fiery Indian cuisine and Singapore's famous fruit, the durian. This is suitable for visitors who may feel peckish after the ceramic experiential workshop!
