Take in stunning views of the High Desert of the Mojave, accompanied by goats.
We’ll meet our 15 friendly Nubian goats in their pens. They’ll wait for us to open their gate, and then these loving animals will show us the way. We’ll follow the herd at an easy pace into desert washes and onto boulders, where we’ll find beautiful spots to sit and chat—or simply gaze into the silence of the landscape, the gaping sky, and the goats enjoying themselves.
We’ll walk about three miles and return with the goats after the sunset.
Other things to note
No phone connection the last 5 miles & @ The Farm
Long pants & suitable shoes for hiking are essential.
Sun protection and hat.
Plenty of water.
Dress warm from October to April.
Walk at your own risk

I moved to the US from France over 20 years ago to pursue work as a yoga instructor and massage therapist. For the past 10 years, I’ve lived on a beautiful farm at a 4,500-foot elevation. Here, I take care of sweet Nubian goats all surrounded by granite boulders, Joshua trees, and piñon pines.
I care for this land passionately, and I love sharing the beauty of the high desert with friends and visiting guests.

- What a wonderful experience. This was my second time on the hike (I also came in January). I love this little farm so much. Emmanuel is such a thoughtful host from start to finish. I also really appreciate the effort he puts into keeping everyone safe. Everyone is wearing a mask and keeping their “social distance”. I can’t wait to come back again!
- My family and I just got back from a four day trip of Joshua Tree. Of our weekend adventures, the yogi goat hike with Emmanuel was the highlight of our trip. The goat farm is about a half hour drive off the main Yucca Valley strip and a 10 minute offroad drive from the nearest paved road. Emmanuel is a fantastic host with interesting tales about his life and how he came to own and operate a sustainable goat farm in the middle of the desert. The goats are incredibly gentle animals - our son old loved them as did everyone else. The trail was easy-going enough that both the 7 year old and my 77 year old mother were able to keep up, yet challenging enough to be good exercise for everyone. It's a two hour hike through the desert, so remember to bring a water bottle. The desert scenery along the way was spectacular and rivaled what we saw hiking within the National Park. The hike was a fantastic and fun way to experience the natural beauty of the Joshua Tree area.
- We absolutely loved this experience! It was truly magical to get to accompany the goats on their daily “walk.” They are incredible creatures - so loving, warm and curious! The scenery all around us was magnificent and Emmanuel gave us a personalized tour. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the land. Highly recommend!
