Regarding to its techniques, there are 5 recognized styles, Chen, Yang, Wu, Sun and Wuu. Chen style was the first one. Since it’s directly from the hard Kungfu, the feature of this style is sometimes still fast, exploding and externally powerful. Yang style came from Chen style, which is the most popular one, and its movements are slowly, circular and graceful. People who learn Taichi usually start with this style. The other three styles directly or indirectly came from the Chen style or Yang style. As hinted above, I decide to use Yang style Taichi to have you touch the culture. Learning Taichi from me is similar to tasting Peking Duck. Chinese Taoist culture is based on nature, therefore, Taichi is also inspired by nature. The basic principle of Taichi is to express your body as nature intended. With these codes of leaning in mind, I try to lead you into the Taichi world in such a way that you become attuned to nature, tap into the essence of your body, and reach your mind’s the full potential.
I am from Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, and started learning Wushu (Martial Arts) since 6 years old. I went to Beijing Sport University in 1995 where I earned my bachelor degree in 1999, master degree in 2002, and doctor degree in 2009. Since 1998, I focused on teaching Taichi to foreigners at American studying abroad programs, luxurious travel agencies, and big companies. My notable students include children of the former US Ambassador to China Clark T. Randt, Robert De Niro, Director Quentin Tarantino, Heidi Klum etc. I have considerable experiences teaching western students.
The Temple of Heaven was the site where emperors came to worship God and pray for a good harvest. Heaven in Chinese culture is understood as a transcendent force, and that’s why we have the body culture tasted here. According to Chinese philosophy, heaven is circular, which is the fundamental shape of each Taichi movement. Thus, there’s no other place more suitable than the Temple of Heaven to contact nature and “talk to Heaven itself.
