Along the way you will stop at the fish sanctuary and feed the fish, learning their Hawaiian names (great for kids and adults), the usage of fish ponds in Hawaiian culture and the importance of the ocean. Further down your expert local guide will share about the development of Waikiki which includes narrative of the battle in Waikiki that lead up to Nu'uanu Pali and the monument where bones of warriors were repatranized in Waikiki. Guests return to the meeting point at the Waikiki Aquarium and will have early entrance to the Aquarium and the Diamond Head Luau. Nolan Okalani Tallett is a Native Hawaiian, born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. Graduated from UH Manoa, Oahu with a BA in Hawaiian language and a minor in Hawaiian Studies. As a Hawaiian cultural practitioner, Okalani has learned hula, chant, Hawaiian medicine, fishing, farming, lomilomi (Hawaiian traditional massage), history, lei making, instrument making, language and haku mele (song/chant writting) and feather work.

The Mauka to Makai walking tour with our cultural expert is exclusive to airbnb guests and while the area is a public space, guests will see it as our native ancestors saw it, from the ocean, the fish the land and all of the relevancy to life not so long ago.
