You will launch at Arrowhead Landing on your adventure to explore the Tennessee River backwaters with your host (beginners welcome!) After meeting up, you will be provided with a kayak, life jacket, and paddle. Basic instruction will be provided as needed. We will launch and enjoy a fun filled kayak possibly seeing turtles, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, and occasionally the rare treat of a Bald Eagle or other wildlife depending on the day and the adventure! For your time on the water, you will be provided a light snack and a water. A dry bag or waterproof case will be available. Be prepared to possibly get wet, although you are unlikely to get wet except for maybe your feet. Participants should bring a hat, bug spray, and sunscreen. After about an hour and a half on the water, we will return to the launch site.
My passion for kayaking began when I was president of the outing club in college. I have been leading water trips and teaching kayaking for over 10 years with the Boy Scouts of America. I have been exploring and kayaking the waters, tributaries, and backwaters of the Tennessee River for over 20 years and have also lived in the Huntsville area over 20 years.
Piece of fruit and granola bar plus salty snack option and sweet snack option.
Kayak, paddle, life jacket, and access to a dry bag or a dry box.
