I (the artist) will give you a personal tour through my latest street art project "under CONSTRUCTION" where I have incorporated photography and sound art to create community-based large-scale murals located at the Zona Centro of Mexico City. For the first part of our tour we will visit three interactive photomurals and I will walk you through my two year-long creative process, where women and the LGBTTTIQ+ community participated by reflecting on the concept of the personal as political through a feminist perspective, resulting in the photomurals and their corresponding audios. For the second part of our tour, you will get to know Mexico City´s feminist scene in depth as I will take you to visit our hub where all the action takes place. We will finish our tour with a lovely meal and a drink (included) at this versatile space, which is the same one we go to before and after demonstrations, take self-defense courses, listen to poetry, eat, drink and share a safe heaven. Social change and pleasure, all in one. If you´re interested in street art, social movements, muralism, and having a good conversation...this experience was created for you.
I´m an ARTivist (artist+activist), my socially engaged practice is based on the exploration of human behavior and the construction of social and personal identity. I use photography, installation and performance to intervene the public sphere. I aim to to create experiences that foster engagement to develop critical thinking on timely issues such as gender, migration, Otherness and discrimination among other key societal problems. I have been using photography as a medium for the past 15 years and am fully invested as a Human Rights defender through a feminist perspective.
A vegan tlayuda (very filling and delicious).
1 beer (Indio / Bohemia)
1 Subway ticket
The tour consists in visiting three photomurals placed in public space in different walls. Which means we will be walking from one place to another (they are all relatively close to one another). One of the murals is placed inside a Subway Metro Station (ticket included). The feminist space we´ll be visiting at the end can be described as an artist-run center for feminists and feminist-allies.
