After meeting at a local train station, easily accessible from the cities of Sheffield and Manchester, we’ll run through the gears etc. and ensure the bike is set up to suit you. We will ride at a leisurely pace and enjoy stops along the way to discover the hidden past of this beautiful area and take in the splendid scenery of the Park District National Park. If you like big views and want to enjoy the social as much as the ride then our Pudding and Ale vintage bike tour is for you. Starting and finishing at the ancient Peak District village of Bamford you’ll adventure north on the traffic-free Thornhill Trail, an easy going start. You’ll take in some gentle up and downs as you follow the quiet gravel road along the shores of Derwent Reservoir, where you’ll enjoy great views across the Dark Peak and Derwent Valley beyond. On your return you take in a pub stop at the Yorkshire Bridge Inn where you can enjoy either a traditional Yorkshire Pudding with gravy or a Bakewell Pudding, and a pint of the local ale. You’ll soon be refreshed for the short ride back to the station on quiet country lanes. From here it is around a 20 minute train journey back to the bustling centre of Sheffield
Will And Carol
Will and Carol are co-founders of Glory Days Bikes www.glorydays.cc We are trained ride leaders as well as being full of knowledge and eager to please. We have been living, riding and working in and around the Peak District for over 25 years and can't wait to share our specially selected routes with you! All of our bicycles have been searched out and carefully chosen. Following a complete overhaul and service they are then given a test ride before being available to hire. They reflect the craftsmanship of the traditional British frame builders of the 1970s and 80s and are a joy to ride.
Choose from either a large traditional Yorkshire Pudding filled with white onion sauce and gravy or a sweet Bakewell Pudding.
A pint of local craft ale.
A useful and beautiful British made retro road bike. We'll set up the bike so it's just right for you.
We will start our retro ride in the ancient Peak District village of Bamford. We'll soon pick up the Thornhill Trail, a disused railway line that runs up to the Ladybower Dam. We'll journey along the gravel trail around the beautiful Derwent Reservoir following waterside roads and traffic free trails before taking a traditional pub stop. There's some spectacular scenery to enjoy including water, woodlands, open moors and dramatic Victorian dams.
Join one of our retro bike rides and be guided by local experts as you journey through the beautiful Peak District countryside. We will explore new places and have a great time!
