The legendary tour centers around the tale of the Lynch family. Its a fascinating tale of how Walter Lynch is accused and tried for the murder of a visiting Spaniard who was a little too interested in his beautiful wife to be...or was he ? The story ends in a dramatic climax...but you will have to take the tour for that finale !
We also look at the legend of the Claddagh ring with a tale connected to Caribbean pirates, North African slave owners and a gold ring that speaks of eternal love.
Christopher Columbus makes his appearance too, looking for a new way to China, but worrying that Atlantis might stand in his way.
These and other tales are woven together in a 80-90 minute walk through the city. Its taken at a gentle pace to bring in all the major places of interest and embed them into the story of our city.

Dont worry about it raining - we have plenty of places to hide out of the rain !

We have been running walking tours for over 10 years now, and just love the opportunity to show off our fabulous city. I have always loved history, and used to teach it when working as a educator. History is however so much more than the bare facts, so the stories that get wrapped around the events tend to be even more fascinating and memorable. It's a privilege to be part of the 'story-telling' tradition of the West of Ireland.
PLEASE NOTE : This tour is not aimed at 'History buffs', its about legends, stories, fun and 'getting under the skin' of Galway. Enjoy

Galway is a fine medieval town, but it has alot of 'hidden' history. We start in the area of Eyre Square, looking for hidden history in the grand old Hardiman Hotel. After a diverting story about a stubbon Irish donkey we're then off to find Colombus' hidden drinking den, the city walls and even where Ed Sheeran knocked out tunes in his busking days. And that's before we get to the Claddagh rings and the Irish version of Atlantis !
Neil was an excellent guide. He was able to weave story and history into our walk, even while having to modify our route due to Ireland’s unpredictable (though ever impending) rain. Despite wind and a drizzle, he still made the walk feasible and fun and interesting. He pointed out things nearly everywhere, allowing me to see the rich history all around me and to give it meaning. I highly recommend!

Neil is a top-notch professional and an enchanting storyteller to boot. He was easy to identify at the start, easily formed rapport, he tailored the journey to be extra inclusive of our interests and kids. I'm just really happy we booked this and met Neil, the experience completely made our trip to Galway!
