We will discuss the history of Crop Art and how it came to be a teaching tool at the mn state fair, show examples of seeds that qualify for the state fair and discuss the entry process with the idea that the pieces that are created can be entered this summer if pursued . An image will be provided and each participant will be shown the transfer process as well as detailed information how to create an image with seeds. All materials provided to create a 10" x 10" piece that belongs to the student.
I am a 15 year veteran of the MN State Fair Crop Art Competition, having won multiple blue ribbons as well as an illustrator's design award for my work with VitaMN magazine.I have led multiple crop art workshops including at the Walker Art Center, and done demos at both the Walker and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
All materials needed to create a one of a kind crop art piece, ready to be submitted to the MN State Fair.
The workshop is held at an artist studio in the Arts District of NE Minneapolis, home to Vevang Studios,a well established studio workshop well equipped to house multiple students comfortably.
All materials are provided to create a piece you can bring home.If you have an image you'd like to reproduce in seeds besides the provided images please keep in mind simpler is better
