We meet at the pottery workshop in Raša at 09:00h and take a tour around the factory so participants get an idea about the production process and basics about materials we use. My husband Masimo, the potter will demonstrate working on the pottery wheel, handbuilding, glazing, and I will show you maiolica handpainting. Each participant then works with Masimo on the pottery wheel while the others handbuild there own piece. You don' t need to have any previous experience ...you just need to be willing and be in the mood to get dirty! Keep in mind that clay needs about 2-4 days to dry before gets fired. Ceramics need to pass through 2 firings...(bisque and glaze), as a result your ceramics will be ready in about 20-30 days in order to be sent. If you want it glazed and fired for an extra charge then posted to you that can be arranged. Each participant at the end of the course receives a personalized "bukaleta" with their name on it, so let us know your names before coming! The session is 2 hours long.
Hi, I am Dolores , I love hosting and sharing with my guests things I am passionate about! My husband Masimo and I run a pottery manufacture since 1993. named MERANIA. We produce traditional pottery and have lots of experience with pottery workshops, with children and adults. The pottery studio is based in Raša, not far from our bed&breakfast (10km) Palace Lazzarini-Battiala and here we can offer a real pottery experience to our guests. We can also organize multiple day courses. Products from our manufacture can be bought also in our gallery shop in the beautiful old town of Labin.
Refreshments, coffee or tea
We will visit the ceramic manufacture in Raša, a little coal mine town built in 1936.for miner families. Then we can visit the gallery shop in old city Labin.
If you get dirty, clay is washed off very easily! You will work with your hands so long finger nails make our work difficult.
