We will meet on a square in Born which is easy to find, Placa Jaume Sabartes, just behind the Picasso museum. Our first stop will be a visit to a hidden small artisan shop where toys are made for humans 0-100 years old, in my opinion! It´s a wonderful and unique shop. Next we stroll to the nicest little jewelery shop in the Born, where we again meet the owner and designer. Then we cross the busy Via Laietana and walk into the Gótic, also part of the old city. Here a young couple have opened a florist shop, a joy for the eyes and senses. They offer not only plants but also pots and decorative elements. Around the corner we will then pay a visit to an artisan who makes lamps and other items from recycled parts of bikes. Most lamps can move, like wheels. You can come back and rent a bike here too later if you want. Now we cross Las Ramblas and visit the studio of a skilled stained glass artisan in Raval. He will show his impressive works to you and you can maybe even think of ordering a window to your home. After this I suggest a 100% Catalan restaurant where you can eat and have a drink nearby. Because I think pausing is important I will suggest minor pauses too.
Many of my friends in Barcelona are artisans and I have a lifelong passion for craftsmen. I believe getting to know artisans means getting to know the city as well, it´s traditions and history. In the last three years I have detected many small shops and I would truly enjoy to recommend their craftmanship to you.
I will take you to small shops and studios in Born, Gotic and Raval areas. You will be greeted by the artisans themselves and if you like crafts you will like my tour.
