Even though Bangkok has been dubbed the "Venice of the East". Roads and cars have replaced the beautiful canals and boats as the main transportation. What you'll be experiencing is the totally different Bangkok everyone knows it (I'm sure even most Bangkokians have never done this!). - Take a small boat ride in the remote Bangkok canals (Not the polluted canals in the inner city) - Experience the beautiful nature and the unique way of lives of the locals. (Imagine lush plantations and wooden house and small boats as transportation like in the old days) - A Coffee break and/or a visit a few cultural destinations (temple, mosque, church -- yes, they're all along the canals) - To make it even more interesting, we will try to collect trash in the canals whenever we can. The local boat owner will help us sort the trash and recycle when possible. - Have dinner at a local canal-side restaurant and chill at the coconut farm of the boat owner (Free flow of fresh coconut water for everyone!).
Hi there! My name is Korn. I am a changemaker and nature lover based in Bangkok. Working in the field of social impact, I got in touch with Khun Yu, a local boat driver in the area. He will be taking us around the beautiful canals on the outer Bangkok exploring the hidden gems that most tourists won’t get to see. I am also a global citizen having lived, worked and studied totally in 6 different countries across 3 continents. Since I pretty much enjoy meeting new friends from all over the world anyway, I thought this is the perfect way to do so! Look forward to meeting you! Korn

Local canals on the Thonburi side of Bangkok have still been relatively untouched by major developments. There is also a strong sense of community driven by volunteer groups that work to preserve its unique way of life and uplift the community, for example, by adding bicycle lanes and mural arts. One part of the trip, we will be visiting Bangmod Canal Community that is home of the famous annual Bangmod Festival and Bangmod Canal intl Art Project
- A life jacket is available for everyone. - The canal network on this part of Bangkok is not too polluted. - Small boats are commonly used in these canals. - The boat driver is a local professional.
