Through a series of guided invitations, I’m going to help you slow down, awaken your senses, and connect with nature, yourself and others. The science tells us that spending mindful time in the forest has some incredible health benefits, like boosting our immune system and fighting cancer. But what people generally find to be the best part of forest therapy is the effortless sense of tranquility than we can find when we stop thinking and start feeling. We’ll share a forest therapy wander in the style of Shinrin Yoku, tell our stories, and end with a tea ceremony featuring foraged plants and the best tasting cocoa nibbles, courtesy of Chocolate Springs Cafe. I strongly believe that the forest has medicine and wisdom for everyone in every moment; what will you discover on our walk?
As a guide and therapist for over 20yrs, I've lead 500+ overnights in wilderness settings supporting the health of children, teens, young adults and families. I'm the founder of Nature Treatment, a volunteer-driven community health initiative exploring natural alternatives to medicine and the owner/psychotherapist of Berkshire Health Ranger, a private practice administering vitamin "N" to those deficient in nature relatedness. I'm also a certified forest therapy guide and wilderness first responder and have been guiding "mood walks" for individuals, couples, families or groups for 3yrs.
Taste the forest during a light tea ceremony paired with delicacies from Chocolate Springs Cafe.
We will be visiting a special nature-rich forest in the southern Berkshires. There are a variety of public forests and lands which support the calibration of our sensory and nervous systems. The location will be chosen based on the season, day of the week and time of day. Depending on the location, there are typically no access to bathrooms or drinking water, except when I bring my mobile office during the warmer months.
