I'm a fabric jewellery designer, self-taught seamstress, and the founder of Nomi Handmade - a proudly South African textile jewellery brand that was established in September 2015. I'm especially drawn to the bright colours and patterns - my most favourite being those of shweshwe, a traditional South African fabric. Should you run out of time to join me at a workshop, you can stock up on Nomi…
This fabric jewellery workshop takes place in a cafe around the corner from my home studio in Maboneng. Here we’ll get to know each other over local drinks and tunes. We’ll also get acquainted with a proudly South African fabric called shweshwe, which I'll show you how to manipulate into bold and bright jewellery pieces - choose between a necklace, pair of earrings or bracelet. Whatever you make…
Drinks A selection of local soft drinks, teas, and coffee.
Equipment All the tools necessary for making our jewellery.
Yourself and an open, fun-loving mind!
Depending on venue availability, the workshop will take place either at The Bioscope/Chalkboard or at Curiocity Backpackers - both are within 2 blocks (walking distance) from one another. The main address on the listing, in the map, is the default one. If the venue changes to Curiocity (which ONLY 2 blocks away from Chalkboard), it will be updated on the calendar and you‘look be notified via email by Airbnb or on your confirmation email.
