I have presided over 'Knowledge and Culture Academy' where over 100 study sessions and workshops have been held by inviting professionals from a variety of fields. These have been well-received by Japanese people with high intellectual curiosity. Utilizing my cultural network, I have started workshops called “Meet Locals, Learn Culture in Japan,” which provides foreign tourists in Japan a wonderful opportunity．"Experience and feel Noh performance" is one of these . It held by Machiko with Mr.Asami, who is a leading noh actor of the kanze school. Machiko is mainly coordinating and translating.
You can see precious noh masks, costumes and stage properties collected by the Asami family
Our workshop will be held at Yoyogi Noh Theater. It has two types of stages. One is a really unique in- house stage built in 1933 and the other one is outdoor stage faced to a small garden built in 1950. Both of the stages were granted the status of Registered Tangible Cultural Properties by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs.
